6th-8th Grade Runners are welcome to run at Rosemount on 9/2/16

Middle School Runners:

6th graders are invited to run in the 6th grade race that starts at 8:05 am. All other middle school kids (grades 7 and 8) are invited to run in the C race that begins at 10 am. 

I will be in Rosemount early and will register 6th graders that are interested. The cost for 6th graders to run is 5 dollars and can be registered the day of. 

There will be a bus that leaves the high school at 7 am and will return about an hour after the conclusion of the last race. 


Practices Time For week of 8/29/16

Our practices will run from 7:30 -10:00 on Monday-Thursday this week.  We need the extra time to teach the runners new strength training exercises. Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Uniform Distribution Wednesday 8/31/16 at 4:45 PM

Uniforms will be distributed Wednesday, 8/31/16 at 4:45 PM in the lower level near the athletic locker rooms.  Enter the MHS from the west entrance.

 A $100 uniform deposit is required in order to receive a CC uniform.  Please bring a check made payable to MTFCCA. This deposit will be refunded at the end of the season when the athlete returns the entire uniform. 

Target Center Volunteer Opportunity

Minnetonka Track & Field and Cross Country Association Volunteer Fundraising Opportunity

When:  Sunday, Sept. 11, 201612:30-5pm.

Where:  Target Center

What:  Placing tote bags on seats in preparation for Target sales meeting.

Who: Maximum of 50 volunteers, including parents and students.

Money Raised:  MTFCCA will receive $100 for each volunteer. (Volunteers are expected to stay the entire time.)

Schedule

12:30pm, arrive in Target Center Lobby. 12:45pm, briefing. 1pm-5pm, place bags. 5pm, pizza served.

You will need to store your phone during volunteer shift, and please no photos or social media posts.

Liability Waiver

Each volunteer must fill out liability waiver when you sign up on SignUp Genius and bring it on Sept. 11 to Target Center. Parents must sign for students under 18.

Middle School Runner's are welcome to train with the high school team.

Please look at the Girls' CC calendar for practice times and location. Once school  starts you will begin practicing with your team at your respective school.

MIDDLE SCHOOL RACE OPPORTUNITIES:

 *   7th and 8th grade runners can join the MHS team for the Rosemount meet on September 2 ("C" Race)


 *   ALL middle school runners can race in a middle school race at Gale Woods on September 8  (Note: MMW & MME runners that plan to run in this race will have a practice after the first day of school on September 6 from 4:00 - 5:15.)

Volunteer at the Excelsior Firecracker Run on July 4th

We are in need of about 15-20 volunteers for about 4 hours the morning of the 4th of July for our Firecracker Run Event in downtown Excelsior.  It is a fun morning of helping provide water to runners and cheering them on to the finish line.

There are several ways for you to support your team.

Car Wash at Cub:  July 9th and August 13th.

Cub Bagging:  July 16th and August 20th.

Potbelly Fundraiser:  A date in September will be announced. 

Tonka Turkey Trot:  Thursday, November 24th.

Cross Country Camp is August 21-24, 2016

In order to join the team at camp you have to log your summer miles and have a parent/guardian sign off on them.  Listed below are the mile requirements for each grade:

Freshmen:  150 Miles

Sophomore:  175 Miles

Juniors / Seniors 200 Miles

In order to earn a "Summer Miles" T-Shirt you must run a minimum of 200 miles.

You must participate in 2 fundraising activities during the summer in order to attend camp.  If you are not able to participate in fundraising, a $75 donation must be paid to the Track & Field Association.

Cross Country Practice Begins Monday, August 15, 2016

Practice is from 7:30 - 9:30, we meet at MME until school starts.  After school starts our practices are at the MHS Track and run from 3:15-5:30.

Registration for Cross Country is AVAILABLE NOW through August 12th!

First and most important: you MUST have a current (within three years) sports physical on file with MHS. To find out if you do, you can either check on in Skyward health information or email Jane Claggett (jane.claggett@minnetonka.k12.mn.us) in the activities office.

In addition to your physical, you have to fill out and pay the following:

  • Sports eligibility form
  • Sport emergency card
  • Yearly participation fee of $75
  • Cross Country activity fee of $80

Varsity, JV, and C WIN at the Victoria Lions Invitational

The Minnetonka girls cross country team swept the Victoria Lions Invitational yesterday winning the varsity, junior varsity, and junior varsity-c races.

The Skippers varsity team was led by a trio of freshman; Sophie Whicher placed 4th overall (14:28.0), Grace Hoelscher 5th (14:36.1), and Libby Halbmaier 10th (14:47.5).  Minnetonka, ranked #8 in Class AA, beat #4 Eden Prairie and #11 Lakeville South with a score of 49.  Rounding out the scoring for Minnetonka were junior Lucy Hoelscher placing 14th (14:58.8) and freshman Marla Bailey was 16th (15:03.0).

The junior varsity team was paced by 7th grader, Bella Buenting and the junior varsity-c team was lead by sophomore, Sarah Scriver.

Tonka Turkey Trot Volunteers Needed

The 7th annual Tonka Turkey Trot 5K will take place on Thanksgiving morning at 8:30 AM.  We need additional volunteers to help monitor the race course and make sure we provide all runners and walkers with a safe, enjoyable and healthy experience.

All volunteers will receive a Tonka Turkey Trot stocking cap! It’s a great way for student-athletes to help the MTFCCA’s largest fund-raising event, get in volunteer hours and, on Thanksgiving Day, give back to the community that supports them.
