Boys Cross Country

Regular Season 2017

Lettering Criteria

Students must have at least 90% attendance at practices and meets during the entirety of the season to earn the Letter “M”, only after having been cleared by the activities office. There is very little coaches discretion with this. In advance notices of missed practices will be taken into consideration if need be. The four days of practice at camp are not counted toward this, as attending camp is not required, but is highly recommended for conditioning and camaraderie of the team.

There are 47 regular season practices during the season (Monday-Saturday), plus 8-10 cross country meets. This number of meets varies due to whether you have made varsity or not. Missed practices can be made up for junior varsity runners by attending any of the 10 before school morning practices - 6:15-7am. These practices are optional for the junior varsity runners, but mandatory for runners planning on competing varsity.

Each excused or unexcused practice counts as a miss, as either you are there or you are not. Very little coach's discretion will be used for any unique circumstance.

Along with at least 90% attendance, one cannot letter unless they run at least a time of 18:20 and under for the 5k distance during the regular season.

Those individuals who have completed at least two prior cross country seasons in good standing, and again in their third will letter regardless of what time they run. Students have to be at least a junior to qualify for this rule.

Returning letter winners are by no means automatic for another letter. They must be earned again.
